Jessika’s Curse is a hand-painted Roguelike x RPG experience currently development on Patreon. The focus lies on deep turn-based combat, erotic Battle-Lust animations and good dose of geeky humor.

Jessika’s Curse is a lewd roguelike game which recently started development. The game aims for quality in all her aspects, and as such we decided to take her to Patreon early.

The core of Jessika’s Curse will be turn-based combat that marries classic Jrpg concepts with elements from more recent roguelike games such as Darkest Dungeon. All characters in the game and all their moves and Battle-Lust interactions will be animated by hand in Spine: 2D, and the tests we’ve done so far promise that the game is going to look very sweet.
We want success in combat to require a good dose of preparation and smart configuration, but will also design it to allow personal preference and playstyle to thrive. Each character in your party can equip a limited amount of skills from her pool, and it’s up to you to figure out what combinations get the job done.

The world of Jessika’s Curse is a sexy and seductive place, and many attacks don’t assault your party’s health but target their lust instead. If a girl’s lust becomes too high there is a good chance your commands will be ignored in favor of less constructive things (those boobs aren’t going to squeeze themselves…). The times when this happens it will be done via lavish hand-crafted animations. When lust gets to maximum levels enemies will use a special lust cinematic to knock the girl out in fitting H-game style.

Battle-lust

The attacks from the game’s monsters often don’t assault your party’s health, but target their lust instead. When lust gets too high the party members will succumb to their desires and start doing naughty things!

We’re inspired by games that offer a real gameplay challenge. Success in Jessika’s Curse will require a good dose of pre-combat preparation, as each character in your party can only equip a limited amount of skills from her pool.

A world ruled by dark Deities

The world of Jessika’s Curse is shaped by twisted Deities. Our inspiration for this comes from things like Warhammer’s Gods of Chaos, which means the game world will be filled with unnatural hentai-esque madness.

EARLY DEVELOPMENT

When we started Jessika’s Curse we gave ourselves a “We can do anything” pass – what would we make if we could do the ultimate adult game?

The development of Jessika’s Curse publicly started in October 2018. From the get go we went all in, and set hard goals for ourselves that forced us into a demanding development process. We realised that a proper game – adult or otherwise – can’t be made any other way. We delivered five downloadable proof of concepts, and we’re not even done with the year! (Patrons of any level can download and play our prototypes)
 
Early development mostly focused on exploring possible art directions, establishing the main cast and the antagonist, and creating some low level monster concepts. As we want very long levels that look hand painted and non-repetetive, we worked on a system to embellish backgrounds with variable elements. This allowed us to randomise elements in a way that seemed very organic: a goblin hut here, a statue there, etc. To test the workflow we had in mind we then quickly went into Spine to see how our assets came to life. The results were very pleasing to the eye and encouraging (and also a lot of work).

End November into December is where things get exciting for us; this is when we go from prototypes to regular releases. We are working hard on the assets needed to give us that initial gameplay to build from, and are well on schedule despite a hiccup here and there.

Why Jessika needs support

With Jessika’s Curse we are focusing on creating a proper game for gamers that want more than a 5 minute ‘the Fappening’. So real gameplay, a proper challenge, epic enemies and bosses, awesome sex and combat animations – the whole package. This does however mean that the production pipeline is quite expensive…
